On 18th February, we arrived at Stansted Airport bright and early to set up for our latest fundraising event. By 3 AM, we were getting our stand ready, and by 4 AM, we were already rowing. Thanks to our eye-catching banners, generously provided by Signs Express Plymouth, we stood out perfectly in front of the security channel, making sure passengers couldn't miss us!

By 4 AM, we were off, rowing non-stop in one-hour shifts until 8 PM. Between the team, we covered nearly 200km over the course of the day, giving passengers a taste of the endurance required to row across the Atlantic. This was not just about showcasing our challenge—it was also a brilliant opportunity to practice our pacing, test our endurance, and fuel ourselves properly for long-haul efforts. A huge shout-out to Dine Out Meals, our nutrition partner, for providing our freeze-dried meals for the day—the Chicken Tikka was an absolute winner!
Stansted Airport was already buzzing with early-morning travellers, and despite people rushing to catch flights, our 100m rowing sprint challenge quickly grabbed attention. At 4:30 AM, we had our first competitors—two women in their 60s—who hopped on for a warm-up row before their flight. It was a fantastic start to what turned into a day of fierce competition and generous support.
As the morning unfolded, more and more people stopped by our stand to learn about our campaign and try their hand at the 100m rowing challenge. We had amazing support from airport staff and travellers alike, with many stepping up to row and even more making generous donations to our campaign.
Throughout the day, we received countless kind donations from passengers and plenty of curious onlookers stopping by to learn more about our Atlantic Rowing adventure. We can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity and enthusiasm. Every penny raised supports our campaign, and after the row, proceeds from selling our equipment will be donated to our fantastic partner charities.
A massive thank you to Stansted Airport, the incredible passengers, and, of course, the airport staff who got involved and made this event such a success. Stay tuned for the next post, where we'll dive into the results of our 100m rowing challenge and highlight the incredible performances of the day!
If you missed us at London Stansted, don’t worry – you can still support our campaign! There are 3 easy ways to get involved and help us hit our funding targets to ensure we’re ready to race: ‘Feed a Rower,’ ‘Flight Level Club,’ and ‘Donate Any Amount.’
