KIERA TARONI

Early detection saved Kiera’s life.
Diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer at just 25 years old, Kiera’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of knowing your body, trusting your instincts, and finding strength through movement.

Kiera was only 25 when she discovered a lump during her regular monthly self-checks. She knew immediately that something wasn’t right. Trusting her instincts and acting quickly led to a diagnosis of stage 1 HER2+ breast cancer.

Just one month after her diagnosis, Kiera began six rounds of chemotherapy, completing treatment in February. This was followed by a 17.5-hour reconstructive surgery in March — an immense physical and emotional challenge for anyone, let alone someone in their mid-twenties.

As soon as she received the all-clear from her doctors, Kiera returned to the gym. Not to chase performance goals, but to reconnect with herself.

Training became a source of structure and focus during recovery. It helped her rebuild confidence in her body and shift her mindset from what she had been through to what she was still capable of. Through movement, Kiera found a renewed appreciation for her strength and resilience — and it pushed her to challenge herself more than ever before.

Her experience reinforced a belief she now lives by:

a healthy body supports a healthy mind.

Kiera’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact of early detection, self-checking, and listening to your body. We’re proud to share her comeback — and proud to be rowing for people like Kiera, with all proceeds supporting Young Lives vs Cancer and Move Against Cancer.
